Charter of Duties

          Dte Gen of Wk is resp for mgt of all aspects of mil infrastructure pertaining to the Def Services. The DG Wk (DGW) is placed under the E-in-C and exec tech cont through a multi-tier org for exec, and maint of all infrastructure assets. DGW is resp for the tech pig, cont, exec and coord of all wk services for the three Def Services, Coast Gd, Ord Factories, R&D ests, KV,DAD, DGQA ests and other org under the MoD on behalf of the E-in-C. The broader charter of duties of Wks Dte includes:-

• Liasion and coord with MoD, MoD(Fin), Services HQ, CGDA etc on wks related issues.
• Sanction annual est and settlement of all irregularities and issues incl audit and draft paras, MFAI cases.
• Monitoring prog of spl proj and AMWP.
• Specialized designs for rw and other complex structures and mgt of large infrastructure proj for the three Services.
• Introduction of new tech/products in the MES projs.
• Policy, plg and provn of utilities. Instr on technological upgradation and augmentation of essential services.
• Mgt of Army wk budge (carryover capital and revenue).
• Policy on contract mgt for def wk, mgt of contractors/ vendors and dispute resolution.
• Arch aspects of all the schemes and projs undertaken by Wk Dte.
• Evolve and design special bldg proj and standardization of OTM Accn (as & when reqd), design/modernisation of furniture for hospitals/ md accn.
